Meeting Mr. Myles

I had to wait 8 hours before they let me meet him and honestly it sucked every minute. Right around 8pm I got to visit him and I was terrified at the sight of all the wires and monitors on my tiny baby boy. He entered the world weighing 3lbs 1oz and was 15 inches long but he already made a big imprint on my heart. I was told he was too critical and would have to be transferred to Sunrise Hospital. Imagine being told your child might not survive and that for the time being you won't be able to see him because you yourself are still not well enough to leave the hospital. While I laid in the hospital bed I had John (my husband) visit Myles and take as many photos as humanly possible. With everyday that passed I got more and more antsy wanting to be with him, near him and touch him. I loved this little person with all my heart after only meeting him for an hour and a half.

A very eventful hospital visit.

I went to the hospital Tuesday February 28th expecting to be sent home after getting some fluids, but after about 30 minutes I was informed that I would be admitted and my Dr. would be there to check on me soon. I woke up to Dr. Toledo at my bedside on the morning of February 29, 2012 and following an ultrasound I found out I would be meeting my son 10 weeks early due to concerns with his heart. It goes without saying that I was completely terrified and at that moment I was all alone because my husband was at work. Imagine going to the hospital for swollen hands and feet and learning that your son was in eminent harm. I am sooo happy that I have good doctors that are knowledgeable enough to see what needed to be seen. My husband got back to the hospital at 10:30am and they were already prepping me for the surgery I could see the fear in his eyes and it scared me even more. There was a moment of comedic relief watching my husband squeeze his 4x body into a 2x suit lol. I got rolled into the surgical suite at 11:15am and my anesthesiologist gave me my spinal block, it took 2 tries but finally it started to work and the surgery was started. With my previous C-sections I felt a lot of pressure but this time it was quick and I didn't feel much at all. Myles entered the world at 11:49 am on February 29,2012 and was quickly whisked away to the Nicu thus the adventure begins.
